South African waterfront city Durban on Tuesday invited being designated in the 28th yearly World Travel Awards.
The city has gotten four direct assignments this year which incorporate Africa's Leading Business Travel Destination 2021, Africa's Leading City Destination 2021, Africa's Leading Festival and Event Destination 2021 and Africa's Leading Meetings and Conferences Destination 2021.
Durban's King Shaka International Airport was named for Africa's Leading Airport and Port of Durban for Africa's Leading Cruise Port. The Southern Sun's Elangeni and Maharani Hotel Conference got a designation for Africa's Leading Conference Hotel and Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Center was named for Africa's Leading Meetings and Conference Center 2021.
"This news couldn't have come at a superior time as we explore right out of the COVID-19 pandemic which has achieved enormous financial difficulties for the travel industry area. These designations are demonstration of the difficult work that we have placed in, to advertise the city to the remainder of the world by featuring the exclusive requirements that we, and our foundations, endeavor to accomplish," said eThekwini chairman Mxolisi Kaunda.
He accepted that the designations are a demonstration of approval in the city's business travel and the travel industry offering.
"Accepting a few assignments for a particularly renowned honors service is a complete lift for the City. We approach all occupants to revitalize behind the City by making their choice to bring these honors home," he said.
Deciding in favor of the World Travel Awards will close on August 9.
